This article provides how to install the Kali Linux on VMware. This is not that much tough. It involves very few steps. Why only VMware not others like VMware Player, Oracle VM Virtual box, XenServer…?? This is because Due to the fact that it gives you a safe environment to play and explore without damaging your physical hard drive, losing data, going berserk, etcetera.

What is VMware .. ??

VMware, Inc. is a subsidiary of Dell Technologies that provides cloud computing and platform virtualization software and services. It was the first commercially successful company to virtualize the 32bit (X86) architecture. VMware’s desktop software runs on Microsoft Windows, Linux, and MACOS, while its enterprise software hypervisor for servers, VMware ESXI, is a bare-metal hypervisor that runs directly on server hardware without requiring an additional underlying operating system.

Kali Linux is a Debian-derived Linux distribution designed for digital forensics and penetration testing. It is maintained and funded by Offensive Security Ltd. Mati Aharoni, Devon Kearns and Raphael Hertzog are the core developers.


Make shore you have downloaded and installed VMware software. You can download the Kali Linux ISO software by clicking here.


 You are just 22 steps behind to install kali Linux on VMware.

1] Start VMware and click for create new virtual machine.

2] Select Custom (advanced)

3] choose latest VMware version (i.e. Workstation 11.0).

4] Click on installer disk image file (ISO), browse and select where ISO file present.

5] Choose guest operating system as Linux, and version as Debian 8.x for x86 a
nd Debian 8.x 64 bit for x64 operating system.

6] Choose processer configuration based on yours ( by default 1).

7] Configure RAM size and ROM size based on your configuration and your requirement

8] choose network connection as bridged networking.

9] choose I/O controller as LSI logic (recommended), disk type as SCSI (recommended) and disk as create new virtual hard disk.

10] Choose storage and store in a single file.

11] Click on next and Finish it.

12] Power on the Virtual machine.

13] Choose on graphical install.

14] Choose language, country & keyword.

15] Choose hostname anything by default kali and Domain name as Empty because this machine is not a member of any domain.

16]  choose root password as 123 or root and re-enter it. (By default)

17] Choose on use entire disk and all files in one partition and continue it.

18]  Choose as YES on write changes to disk.

19] Choose network mirror as NO and install GRUB boot loader to master boot record as YES and choose SDA.

20] Hurray … installation is done.

21] Choose user Name as root and password as 123.

22] Then our Kali Linux is ready to use.
