20 most important programming languages

Here is the 20 most important Programming Languages that you must know about it. In fact nowadays all desktop and Android applications are running with the help of these Programming Language only. You must remember these 20 Programming languages which i have mentioned Below.

Friends if we make a list of the most important programming languages, we’ll we come across two categories. There are many vintage programming languages that just won’t die and continue to be used in their respective field.

Here, I’ll be telling you about The most 20 Important Programming Languages in the World and the list that covers the best of both old and new programming languages.

1 : C

C was originally developed by Dennis Ritchie between 1969 and 1973 at Bell Labs, and used to re-implement the Unix operating system. It has since become one of the most widely used programming languages of all time, with C compilers from various vendors available for the majority of existing computer architectures and operating systems.Mother of many other programming languages–Python, PHP, Perl, MATLAB–C is also used to write a large chunk of Unix, Windows, and Linux operating systems.

ALGOL (short for Algorithmic Language) is a family of imperative computer programming languages, originally developed in the mid-1950s, which greatly influenced many other languages and was the standard method for algorithm description used by the ACM in textbooks and academic sources for more than thirty years.

Today, the use of ALGOL is minimal but the roots of many major programming languages could be traced back to it.

3 : COBOL

COBOL was designed in 1959, by CODASYL and was partly based on previous programming language design work by Grace Hopper, commonly referred to as “the (grand)mother of COBOL”.It was created as part of a US Department of Defense effort to create a portable programming language for data processing. it found its use in heavy business systems like insurance, banking etc.

Even today mainframe computers running in government departments, banks, nuclear power stations use COBOL and it’s still being produced and developed.

Originally developed by IBM in the 1950s for scientific and engineering applications, Fortran came to dominate this area of programming early on and has been in continuous use for over half a century in computationally intensive areas such as numerical weather prediction, finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, computational physics and computational chemistry.

It is a popular language for high-performance computing and is used for programs that benchmark and rank the world’s fastest supercomputers.Today, it still finds its use among the scientific community, physicists, and engineers.

5 : ADA

Ada is a structured, statically typed, and object-oriented high-level computer programming language, Which is extended from Pascal and other languages. Developed in 1980, this programming language, is used in military and air traffic control due to its safety provisions.

6 : PL/1

This PL/1 language Created in 1964 and introduced in 1969, PL/I stands for Programming Language One. Invented by an IBM committee , this language lost its favor in 1970s. However, PL/I is still used in IBM System/360 mainframes due to IBM’s dominance in tech.

Pascal is an procedural programming language, designed in 1968/1969 and published in 1970 by Niklaus Wirth as a small and efficient language intended to encourage good programming practices using structured programming and data structuring.Pascal is still taught as object-oriented programming at many places.

8 : LISP

Originally specified in 1958, Lisp is the second-oldest high-level programming language in widespread use today.Talking about the contemporary presence, Lisp is a popular programming language in AI field.

9 : SCALA

Scala is a general purpose programming language.Invented by Martin Odersky in 2004, Scala’s was inspired by the criticism of Java. It’s one of the most popular JVM scripting languages. It is Designed to be concise and Scala also finds use in data science.

10 : GO

Go (often called as golang) is an open source programming language created at Google in 2007 by Robert Griesemer, Rob Pike, and Ken Thompson. It is a compiled, statically typed language in the tradition of Algol andC, with garbage collection. This fast programming language follows Unix’s principle of “Do one thing. And do it well.

11 : R

It was designed by Ross Ihaka and Robert Gentleman in 1993. R is a programming language and software environment for statistical computing and graphics supported by the R Foundation for Statistical Computing. The R language is widely used among statisticians and data miners for developing statistical software anddata analysis.

12 : SQL

SQL (Structured Query Language) is a special purpose programming language designed for managing data held in a relational database management system (RDBMS), or for stream processing in a relational data stream management system (RDSMS).was designed by Donald D. Chamberlin and Raymond F. Boyce. It is over all a ment for Database for storing data.Originally SQL based on tuple relational calculus and relational algebra, this special-purpose programming language is widely used as a standard for relational database management systems.

13 : JAVA

Developed by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems, Java first appeared 21 years ago in 1995. And is simpler to use than one of its influencers C++.Java applications are typically compiled to bytecode that can run on any Java virtual machine (JVM) regardless ofcomputer architecture. As of 2016. It’s not going anywhere anytime soon and is used to power company websites like LinkedIn.com, Netflix.com and Amazon.com.

Designed by Brenden Eich, then working at Netscape, in 10 days in 1995, JavaScript is a high-level and dynamic programming. and it is also scriptlet Language and also referred as “language of the web.”. JavaScript – not to be confused with Java – is another one of the world’s most popular and powerful programming languages, and is used to spice up web pages by making them interactive. For example, JavaScript can be used to add effects to web pages, display pop-up messages or to create games with basic functionality.

15 : C#

C# it is pronounced as “C Sharp”, was developed by Microsoft in 2000. It was designed for use in Redmond’s .NET framework. Specially .NET framework. It is a multi-paradigm programming language. It is also a Object Oriented Programming Language. And is used to build a variety of applications that target Windows environment.

Python is a general purpose programming language that was named after the Monty Python (so you know it’s fun to work with)! Python is simple and incredibly readable since closely resembles the English language. it’s a great language for teaching programming at school. Python is used by organizations like Google, NASA, Yahoo, and CERN. It also finds major applications in the scientific community, data mining, and AI field.

17 : C++

C++ is a general-purpose and object-oriented programming language that was created between 1979 and 1983.C++ was first released in 1983. Stroustrup keeps an extensive list of applications written in C++. The list includes Adobe and Microsoft applications, MongoDB databases, large portions of Mac OS/X and is the best language to learn for performance-critical applications such as “twitch” game development or audio/video processing.

18 : PHP

PHP is a server-side scripting language designed for web development but also used as a general-purpose programming language. Originally created by Rasmus Lerdorf in 1994, the PHP reference implementation is now produced by The PHP Group.PHP originally stood for Personal Home Page. It’s used to make dynamic websites and establishes itself as the backbone of WordPress.

Swift/ios is a general-purpose, multi-paradigm, compiled programming language created for iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS and Linux developed by Apple Inc. Swift is designed to work with Apple’s Cocoa and Cocoa Touch frameworks and the large body of existingObjective-C code written for Apple products. In 2014, Apple decided to invent their own programming language. The result was Swift – a new programming language for iOS and OS X developers to create their next killer app.

Like Java or the C language, Ruby is a general purpose programming language, though it is best known for its use in web programming, and Rails serves as a framework for the Ruby Language. Ruby–a dynamic, general purpose, and object-oriented programming language–was developed in 1990s by Yukihiro “Matz” Matsumoto.  It’s used from companies ranging from small start-ups to large enterprises and everything in-between. Hulu, Twitter, Github and Living Social are using Ruby on Rails for at least one of their web Applications.
